The project
The ThinkGeek / thumbsUp! Giant LED Lamp ran on three AAA batteries and grew noticeably dimmer after a few afternoons of use. This old experiment powered it from a 5V wall adapter instead.
The original project used a higher voltage than the nominal 4.5V battery supply. This page records the experiment; it is not a validated modification guide.
